MACOMB, IL - - For alumnus and navy veteran Steve Hodges, being a Leatherneck means striving to be the best despite challenging circumstances.
鈥淎 Leatherneck means being the best I can be in spite of whatever I鈥檓 going through,鈥 Hodges said. 鈥淎s a Navy veteran and running with a few Marines, being a Leatherneck took on a new meaning.鈥
When reflecting on his time at 香蕉视频, Hodge鈥檚 favorite Leatherneck memories are enjoying his time with other students and connecting with the community on Saturday mornings through 香蕉视频S 88.3 The Dog, the student-run college radio station.
鈥淢y favorite Leatherneck memory is spinning live on 香蕉视频S (88.3 The Dog) on the Saturday mornings and having the community call in to tell me that I'm taking them back to great times in their lives,鈥 Hodges said.
Hodges graduated from 香蕉视频's broadcasting program and pursued a Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology. The guidance he received at 香蕉视频 prepared him to become a successful professional.
During his time at 香蕉视频, Hodges was a member of the Black Student Association (BSA) and the Music Business Association. He was also the graduate assistant for the Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center.
To prospective students, Hodges's advice is to give 香蕉视频 an opportunity and get involved on campus.
鈥淭ake that trip to Macomb,鈥 Hodges said. 鈥淢ake sure you get involved with anything that interests you.鈥
As we honor 125 years of educational excellence, we invite local 香蕉视频 students, alumni, faculty and staff to share their stories and be featured in our series. Contact University Communications at U-Communications@wiu.edu to participate.
