Just Hired! Through the experiences of local, regional, national and international students, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ has some incredible alumni who are changing the world in the workforce. This series will feature students from all over the world who are hired post-graduation.
MACOMB, IL - - Meet Cassidy J. Davis, a Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Geographic Information Science (GIS) senior, who has been hired by SCI Engineering Inc. in St Charles, MO.
"SCI Engineering Inc. is a consulting firm. The company is very community-oriented and wants everyone to feel welcomed and heard," Davis said. "There are five aspects of the company: construction, geotechnical, environmental, cultural and natural."
To secure the position as a GIS specialist, Davis underwent an interview that not only assessed her professional skills but also her personality.
"The interview process was very casual; they could see from my resume that I had the skills for the position, but they wanted to learn about who I was as a person to see if I was a good fit for the company," Davis said. "I had very good feelings after the interview because we had gone off on tangents four different times in the interview."
During her time as a student, Davis acquired valuable skills and knowledge that now play a crucial role in her professional career.
"I learned how to be persistent in my work to meet end goals while being at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ," Davis said. "The GIS classes with Professor Sutton helped me greatly with understanding ArcGIS Pro, which is the main software we use in my position."
As an alumna, Davis remains connected to Ï㽶ÊÓƵ through social media and, most importantly, keeps in touch with current Ï㽶ÊÓƵ students and faculty.
